 “junk!” 2009-11-10

Doesn’t work as advertized. I refuse to double the cost by buying their add-on pieces.

 “It works” 2009-11-09
By E. Varley (Iowa)
Easy to set up. I purchased the dual band kit and only used the items that came in the box for installation, except for power drill of course. I live in the country and certain cell signals are tough to find, my provider is one of them. I installed the antenna in my attic and ran the cable to the lowest part of the house, plugged in the base and I was up and running. We used to have to go outside and stand just right to get a call, but now we have cell coverage in all areas of our house. I installed the unit in about an hour and it worked immediately. I do recommend this product.

 “I don’t understand but it works!” 2009-10-31
By P. E. Raney (Nashville, TN)
Installation was simple. I used security ties to hold the antenna to a piece of 1.5” PVC. I glued on a couple of 90 degree elbows to create a hook and hooked it over a cross beam in the attic. I ran the antenna cable down and existing opening into a closet on the main floor of the house. Simple and total installation time was about 15 min.

Powered up the device and verified the lights. My cell phone signal went from 2 bars to 4 when I was near the device. When I walked away, the signal strength fell quickly but I never drop calls in the house now.

I don’t understand how my signal strength looks the same but works so much better. It is very odd but it works. I tested me cell phone in places that were always a problem and it holds the call. There must be a component of signal quality in addition to signal strength.

I don’t understand how this works but I like it.

It would be great if the indoor antenna was a higher gain. I think this is why signal strength drops so quickly.

This is a good product and I would buy it again.

“Great out of the box!” 2009-10-29
By John Ennis (Natchitoches, La)
This really has helped my family out. It used to be that we had to step outside on the deck to talk on our phones, and place them next to a window to get them to pick up enough of a signal to even ring. Now, we have a good enough signal to talk throughout our mobile home. I usually received only one bar or no bars outside and frequently lost calls while sitting on my deck. We used to joke that the wind was blowing in the wrong direction. Verizon came out and determined that we live in a ‘Marginal coverage area’ and this was basically the best we could expect from them. I thought that I would give this product a try before I tore out my hair.

There are a couple of things that you need to know. The signal is great, but drops off once you step away from the base unit. After about 30 feet away, I am unable to make calls, but that was remedied by putting the external antenna higher up. I bought some TV antenna masts in 5 ft sections from Lowes and the antenna is now 35 feet up in the backyard and that helped a lot. I am also going to purchase the directional antenna. Even though the signal is fine for calling/ I want a stronger signal for using my Verizon Aircard on my laptop. (We are too far for cable/ DSL) There are people on here that had bad experiences with this product, and I am sure that was due to improper installation. The tech support is really competent, and answered the phone right away.
*After installing the tower in my back yard, the unit performs GREAT! I just bought some 5 ft tv masts from Lowe’s and anchored one with concrete. If you have a house, you can mount it in the attic, or on the side of the house. Another thing to try is moving the antenna inside your house-it seems to transmit in 2 directions, the antenna is flat on two sides not round. It was just a matter of messing with it long enough to find what direction worked the best in our house.

“Works if you install correctly” 2009-10-28
By Dave Holden (San Francisco, CA USA)
As per the other reviewers, I fiddled with the antennas, which makes all the difference in the world. IF you put the outside antenna way up high or even get the enhanced antennas you’ll get great indoor reception. The reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is the feedback on antenna replacement is by interpreting blinking LEDs which is about the most annoying feedback mechanism since the invention of computers, but it’s cheap.

Punchline, from 0-1 bars up to 4-5 bars indoors, can’t complain too bad.
